Role Description:
Key Responsibilities:
As a Program Instructor, you will play a pivotal role in delivering engaging and effective STEM-focused lessons and activities to students of all ages and skill levels. Your main responsibilities include:
- Delivering interactive and hands-on lessons in STEM subjects.
- Providing guidance and support to students during classroom sessions, workshops, and events.
- Collaborating with other instructors, volunteers, and staff to develop and improve curriculum materials and program content.
- Assessing student progress and providing constructive feedback to students, parents, and other stakeholders.
Requirements:
- To succeed in this role, you should possess the following qualifications and skills:
- Currently enrolled in college or grad school, while majoring in a relevant field (e.g., computer science, engineering, mathematics, education).
- Experience teaching or mentoring students in a STEM-related subject area a plus
- Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Familiarity with relevant technologies, tools, and software applications.
Additional Information:
- This is a part-time volunteer position.
- Travel to and from job location will be provided if needed
- If you are part of the Federal Work Study, note that our volunteer program can fulfill 100% of the requested volunteer hours.
Workshop Details:
Length: 10 weeks in Fall semester (Oct-Dec) or Spring semester (Late Jan -Apr)
Class Duration: 2 hours/week + One 4-hour training session at kick off
Topics: Coding, Robotics, Chemistry
Logistics: Free transportation to middle school is available via Uber/Lyft, as well as mileage reimbursements
Location: Various sites in New Jersey near your campus
